Nastaran Pourebrahm’s (with Drs. Sultana and others) paper is now available online in International Journal of Disaster Risk Reduction. Her study examined communication dynamics on twitter during natural disasters. She concluded that Twitter is a highly valuable source of disaster-related information particularly during the power outage. Government / relief / emergency agencies can utilize such information to reach and support at least a subset of the population most at risk.
