Congratulations to Dr. Selima Sultana on her promotion to professor!

Dr. Sultana arrived at UNCG in 2004 and has consistently contributed to the department through her numerous scholarly works, her excellence in instruction and extensive service commitments. During the past decade Dr. Sultana has published in prestigious journals including the Annals of the Association of American Geographers, published a book on transportation modes, served as President of the North Carolina Geographical Society and Chair of the AAG Transportation Specialty Group. For the past two years she has been the Director of Graduate Studies where she has been transformative in the process of obtaining student funding and has worked tirelessly to recruit excellent students. Dr. Sultana’s contributions in instruction include obtaining multiple undergraduate research awards where she mentored students, serving as major professor for dozens of graduate students, and commendations for consistently high class evaluations. The Geography Department is fortunate she is here and wishes to say, “Excellent work, Dr. Sultana!”
