Welcome to the Department of Geography, Environment, and Sustainability (GES)! As of August 2018, the Department has a new name reflecting the merger of the Department of Geography with the Environmental and Sustainability Studies Program. While the name has changed, the Department maintains its longstanding commitment to bringing a range of approaches and technologies to bear on some of the most pressing questions of our time. In addition to B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. degrees in Geography, the Department now also has B.A. degree concentrations in Environmental Studies and Sustainability Studies. Dr. Aaron Allen, Associate Professor of Music, will continue as Director of the Environment and Sustainability Program.
Please do not hesitate to stop by or contact any of the faculty about classes, degrees, and special events offered by the Department. We invite you to attend our regular Wednesday free lunches (check the website for an up-to-date schedule and list of speakers). Let me or any of the faculty know if you have questions about Geography, Environment, and Sustainability at UNCG!
Sincerely,
Corey Johnson, Ph.D.
