Dr. Walcott’s academic interests focus on regional economic development based on high technology industrial clusters such as life science industry, and urban growth coalitions. Regional study area have been the American Midwest, Southern California, Atlanta MSA, China and India. She has published articles in ‘The Professional Geographer, Urban Geography, Environment & Planning, Growth & Change, Asian Geographer, Southeastern Geographer, and Jouranl of Cultural Geography on the pharmaceutical industry, high tech clusters in Atlanta & Georgia, the tea industry, privatization of high tech military base, Buford Highway, land use change in Shanghai, and numerous articles and a book on science parks in China, as well as several book chapters.
