An article about encouraging diversity in STEM disciplines features UNCG’s STAMPS program (https://www.northcarolina.edu/news/2019/09/Polishing-Hidden-Gems). Dr. Patton and Dr. Sametz who lead the Department’s coordination of the program are quoted. STAMPS is an NSF-funded program that offers scholarships of up to $4,000 per year for four years, to academically talented and financially challenged minority, female, and first-generation college students seeking degrees in STEM.
